Clinics & Hospitals in Bali: A Practical Guide by Area
Nobody plans to need a doctor in Bali, but surf cuts, scooter scrapes, stomach bugs and fevers are part of island life. When it happens, the last thing you want is to be searching Google Maps at 2 am.
This guide lists the main 24-hour hospitals and clinics near each area BaliSquad covers, with addresses you can save now. Save the emergency numbers to your phone today.
This guide is general information, not medical advice. In a life-threatening emergency, call 112 or go straight to the nearest hospital emergency department.
Emergency numbers in Bali
| Service | Number |
|---|---|
| General emergency | 112 |

You can also call a hospital’s own emergency line directly. Some hospitals and clinics run their own ambulance services.
Clinic or hospital?
- Clinic: minor cuts and wounds, stomach bugs, mild fevers, ear infections, prescriptions and check-ups. Many tourist areas have 24-hour clinics.
- Hospital: chest pain, trouble breathing, loss of consciousness, serious bleeding, head injuries, broken bones, or any serious scooter accident.
A good clinic will refer you to a hospital if you need one. If in doubt, go to the hospital.

What to bring and how to prepare
- Passport or a copy of it. Hospitals will ask for ID.
- Travel or health insurance details. Save your insurer’s 24-hour assistance number and policy number in your phone. Private hospitals often ask foreign patients for a deposit or card guarantee before non-emergency admission. Call your insurer’s assistance line early and ask them to send the hospital a guarantee of payment.
- A way to pay. Have a card or cash ready.
- A list of your medications and allergies.
- Someone’s number. Tell a friend or your villa host where you are going.
